Chorlton Big Green Festival - Bike to the Future

Main Festival

Chorlton's Big Green Festival is an annual celebration of sustainable living in Manchester. This year's festival took place at St Clement's Church, Edge Lane, Chorlton on Saturday, 16 April 2011.  The theme was Bike To The Future.

Our festival puts sustainability centre stage with a vibrant mix of live music and dance, food and drink, arts and swaps, and much more. There are also plenty of opportunities for festival-goers to get hands-on with practical workshops, the Big Green Bike Parade and the Green Chorlton Ceilidh. Best of all, entry to the festival is completely free!

Chorlton's Big Green Festival 2011 – a message from the organisers

Green Chorlton would like to thank everyone involved in Chorlton's Big Green Festival 2011 – the organisers, volunteers and everyone who came. It was a fantastic day and lead-up events such as the fringe film night and the What Next? Forum proved to be a great way for people to talk about the ideas behind our festival.

Best wishes from the organising team - Jeff, Ali, Richard, Denise, Jonathan, Trish, Guy, Bernard, Stan, Erika, Odette, Gary, John, Mary, Vicky, Colin, Nigel, Sue, Paul, Eddie, Brian, Emma and everybody else who volunteered their time to make the festival happen.

We'll be back for Chorlton's Big Green Festival 2012

Green Chorlton will be returning to organise Chorlton's Big Green Festival 2012, and in the meantime we hope to have some smaller events to keep the momentum going. If you're interested in getting involved in our activities, either as an organiser or a volunteer, contact us at contact@greenchorlton.org.uk.

Chorlton's Big Green Festival - the story so far

The festival launched on Saturday, 4 April 2009, with an estimated 4,000 people joining in the first-ever festivities. Our second celebration of all things eco and ethical was even bigger and better, with 6,000 local residents sampling sustainability on Saturday 27 March 2010. Meanwhile, we welcomed a further 70-odd attendees at the inaugural What Next? Forum and were thrilled to see full houses at our many fringe events.
